Utilizing components from a flipped classroom strategy can be extremely useful in a unit like this one, full of information and projects to display their learning. The flipped classroom technique is utilized in a bit of a different way throughout this unit however. Students will get their first taste of a flipped classroom setting while viewing a video about Temperate Climate Zones outside of class. Then students will spend time learning how to make their own flipped classroom videos and learning about what a reliable source looks like for projects etc. Students will have two opportunities following these learning experiences such that they can apply the skills that they have learned to create their own flipped videos. By applying their knowledge of how to use the technology for flipped videos and knowledge they have acquired about other climate zones, students will take part in an engaging and meaningful learning experience. By doing projects and applying their knowledge in creative ways, student’s grasp of climate zones will be strong and well supported.
